We recently photographed this gorgeous White Mountains wedding at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The day was perfect with bluebird skies and snowy mountain tops in the background. The great scenery helped make the wedding photos turn out beautifully. Plus, who doesn’t love the help from the family dog? If you are still looking for that perfect location to celebrate your gorgeous wedding in the White Mountains, this historic property is the one, no matter the season.
Mount Washington Hotel
Constructed between 1900 and 1902, the sprawling Mount Washington Hotel cost $1.7 million to build at the time. Today, it would have cost well over $55 million to build. A millionaire by the age of 30, owner and Concord, NH, native Joseph Stickley envisioned it to be a luxurious destination for urbanites.
Over 250 Italian artisans were hired to build the hotel. Their workmanship can still be seen today on the granite and stucco masonry. After Stickney’s passing at the age of 65 from a heart attack, his wife Carolyn spent the next decade summering at teh Mount Washington Hotel. She added a chapel in her late husband’s honor and built extensions to the Y-shaped hotel.
